Agree with you about Lost In Translation. I haven’t seen the film since came out, but it probably reads as racist now. I remember not liking the film that much at the time and felt it was saved by the iconic ending. My biggest complaint about Lost In Translation then was that it didn’t sync up with the Japan I knew from living with my Japanese girlfriend for five years. Seeing Japanese culture from the perspective of a native Japanese woman is a very eye-opening experience.
